  1. Lovely ideas Iris! I like how the Hermes scarves lend themselves to the denim so well. We are TR twins! I also like your Galop in the blues it's lovely. I thought of your last post today as there was an article in the Sunday paper magazine today on older fashionistas and Christine Lagarde was one of the ladies profiled with her suits and Hermes! SAx

    1. Oh, it should be a very very interesting article! I always love to see older fashionistas as they know their own style. And thank you for your nice words on my blue GC. 2012FW was a great season for blue lover, wasn’t it? H did several beautiful blue shades scarves including your lovely Laboratoire du Temps…

  2. Great Hermes silk + denim outfits -- including your earlier one with Ivresse de l'Infini. (Since you posted that I have acquired that scarf, and love it. Now I'm looking at the beautiful black Les Cannes...)

    1. Hi Kay, thank you for leaving a message!
Happy to know now we are scarf twins on Ivresse de l’infini. I especially love its floral patterns and lovely colors. So pretty scarf isn’t it? In contrast, the black Les Cannes is a very chic scarf for me. It is almost a quiet scarf, but so, it goes easily with any wardrobe. I particularly love to wear with dark grey or with navy…and with long boots!

Great looks, Iris! I, too, love pairing a denim jacket with dress slacks (usually black). I love all of the scarves that you're wearing. The blues in GC are stunning, and I like how you're tied it over the jacket, almost treating it like a blouse. So clever! My local H never brought in your TR colorway, or sold it out immediately, so I've never seen that scarf in person. Probably better for my wallet, the colors are gorgeous. And of course, I'm thrilled to be AN scarf twins with you!

    1. Denim jacket was your idea. As you say, AN works perfectly with navy and nicely with my denim jacket ;-) About TR, maybe it was better for you… I feel this is a very difficult scarf to wear, the colors are so subtle…even it remains of course a beautiful design.

By the way, do you have any design which thrills you this new season? :-)

Ah, maybe it is better then, that I missed TR? Thank you for sharing your opinion. I love the colors in it, but now I can see that it could be limiting what to pair with it.

Thank you for crediting me with the denim jacket idea, but I was so inspired with I saw your denim with Ex-Libris en Kimonos (25March12).

Yes, I there was a scarf that thrilled me upon first sight! While on a short holiday with DH and I visited H (of course!), and I grabbed the next to last scarf in this pattern and color. As we were paying for the scarf, another customer came up to the register with the last one! It was Le Mors a la Contable in cw 57 (anthracite). I love it! Just love it!

I'm looking forward to seeing what catches your eye this season, dear.

    3. Thank you for your response and your sweet words dear Cynthia :-) I checked your cw of Le Mors à la Contable on H web site. WOW! It’s so subtle and elegant cw. Lovely pink color and beautiful shades of gray… I’m pretty sure the last scarf was immediately sold because that client saw you and realized how beautiful your scarf was. Great choice and congratulations! As I wrote to Anna in below response, I’m very attracted by Les Trophées in white background with red border. I firstly thought its colors were weird, but when I tried I fell in love with it. I don’t have this kind of pop cw scarf, so it could bring freshness to my collection. So maybe?

Oh, Iris! I am so happy that you like me new Mors a la Contable! I admire your taste so much, so to have your approval, means a lot to me. Thank you! There were other cws that caught my attention, but the anthracite was a must have for me. Colorway 48 in the orange and bright pick is striking as well. I would have liked to have seen cw 45 (white with bright colors) as well, but it wasn't available in that boutique. Have you seen it in person? If so, what are your thoughts?

I looked at the H website (for France) and saw Les Trophees in white. CW 23, correct? The colors really are fabulous, Iris, and the red border is striking. But I understand what you mean by finding the pairings a bit odd at first. With that said, it's all in how a scarf ties, and this one could very well work for you. I'm anxious to learn if this scarf speaks to you again when you go back to try it on the next time. Good luck, dear. :-)

    5. Hi Cynthia,
I totally understand the antharthie was a must have for you! About cw 48, I found some more pics on the purseforum here: http://forum.purseblog.com/hermes/the-spring-2013-scarves-769786-120.html#post23885377. Its colors are indeed hot and striking. And about cw 45, it caught my eyes too. It has a fresh color palette which H rarely does, so I would like to try it IRL but I have never seen it yet on the person too…

Yes, Les Trophées which thrills me is cw 23! When I tried it, I understood all bleu gray colors work like a shadow making the scarf wearable with the smoky tone outfits… If I purchase this scarf, I would surly share some pics with you! :-)

Thank you for the link, Iris, and please pardon my tardiness. Please let me know what you think of cw 45 if you have the chance to see it in person.

Insightful concept of the blue grays acting like a shadow. You're an expert at color theory, dear.

    7. Thank you for your response dear Cyntha! Yes, as soon as I see the cw 45 in person, I would let you know… (unfortunately I have never seen it yet!) And for LT, as I purchased it finally, I am now waiting the inspiration for the pics… :-)

Congratulations are in order, dear Iris! Perhaps your blue-gray blouse in the Loewe's port would be perfect with your new LT, given that it's a smoky, shadow-y color? And perhaps your red shoes somewhere in the mix? You're so talented at bringing colors together, Iris, I just know you'll find something that will work, and work beautifully.

Hello, I came across your beautiful blog and really enjoyed it! I took my scarves out of the drawer and studied the symbols and meanings you described...so thankful to learn about such the things I had not been able to read anywhere before.
May I ask - what is your profession? Are you an artist, or historician or something similar...your knowledge really delighted me and it is so clear there is a lot of information behind. Also grateful very much for the info, as I am not so close to H boutique and your site gives much better insight into the designs than H site. Are you going to purchase any of H designs this spring? I am flying tomorrow and will be able to see H shop, however, I don't have any specific design of the new season to look for it... Best, Anna

    1. Hello Anna, thank you for your sweet words and stopping by ! Your comments really encouraged me to continue to write about the stories behind scarves even I can’t find enough time to do it these days!
In response to your question regarding my profession, you are almost right :-) I studied the art history in the university and I am a former graphic designer even I do completely different things today. I love the History and the Colors in general, that’s why I became addict of the H scarves… ;-)
And about the 2013 SS collection, I firstly thought I had nothing to buy (but I should say almost every season I feel like this… :-P). But when I visited the H boutique last week, SA showed me Les Trophées in white background with bright red border. Even I felt its blue-gray colors were weird at first glance, I tried. It was a magic! The colors were pop, springlike and pretty. I surprisingly loved it. That day, I came back empty-handed so that I could think it over carefully. I maybe go back and get it soon…
Hope you have a wonderful trip to H boutique and you will find your new treasure Anna!

Hello Iris, so glad for your lovely reply - it is really important to me. So, I returned from my trip an hour ago and wanted ro reply to you. Well, have seen almost all the spring scarves (2013) and a decent number of the scarves from the previous seasons. I never liked Ex Libris en Kimono on the screen, namely my thought was that it was "chaotic" (shame - did not know meaning of the symbols on it) and too busy. Then I read your description of the scarf and decided to try it. After having tried ELenK in cw6 and Vie du Nord in brown, I asked the SA to keep them both for half an hour, drank a coffee and returned - ELenK was my choice! I envy to all of you living close to H boutique! It is really precious to be able to rethink the decision. However, I think I made a right decision and I am very happy with my new scarf. Many thanks - you were my "eye opener". Your posts are precious to me, as I can really see the scarf - even H site is not helpful in choice, as the scarves live totally another life and they are not represented by the tiny photos properly, each has its own inner rhythm and soul. Thanks so much for your help and for discovering the scarf soul to us, your readers. Waiting for your next post...whatever your decision about LT. Hugs to you, Anna

    1. How lucky you were to be able to see almost all the spring scarves! And congratulations to your new scarf, beautiful Ex-Libris en Kimono! I love your cw, it is a so chic cw :-) I understand what you mean by “chaotic”, I had exactly the same impression at the first glance of this design. But it ties beautifully, all the colors mix lovely together, it is really a feast for the eyes. Hope you enjoy your new treasure!

About the proximity to the H boutique, it is certainly good for buying but bad for my wallet! So, I try these days not to buy at the first visit, I should rethink my decision as you did. Having a cup of coffee is a good idea to cool down the head! They have lots of beautiful and dangerous things which thrill me too much, so I have to rethink alone and calmly.

Finally many thanks to your nice words on my blog, they mean a lot for me!

It also means to me that my words are appreciated!
      So kind of you.
Going through your blog again and again - it is feast for the eyes to see how beautifully you put the colours and clothing pieces together with scarves - I noticed that you always have beautiful trousers with so called "normal" (maybe high?) waist. Low-waist trousers are a pain for me, however - I do not manage to find decent trousers like yours are. Can you, please, share the trouser brands, if possible? I would be very grateful for it.
Hope I don't ask for too much.
You are right regarding H shops - I am sure I would sleep in boutique in case I was closer to it. This way, it is not so easy to fly back and buy La Vie du Nord which I left in H. Best, Anna

    3. Hi Anna!
Me too, I’m not a big fan of low-waist trousers as I have to care constantly if my underwear does not slip out… About the trouser brands, I can share of course! Some of my pants are from Japanese domestic brands, so I think there is no sense to list up here but my (famous) white pants and tomato red pants are from Uni. And navy trousers and brown linen pants are from Brooks Brothers (I love love love Brooks Brothers!) Otherwise, I have some Zara pants too. And all my denim pants are from Joe’s.
Finally, I have something to tell you. Today, I went back to the boutique and came back with LT :-)

First - wow, I am soooo curious about the Les Trophees scarf, hope you will dedicate your next post to it?
I am sorry I did not have as much time as I wanted to go through all scarves in details.
Otherwise, my half-an-hour coffee break would have had much more painful consequences than buying ELenK (only :-)
Thanks for sharing the brands - will as soon as possible visit the specified shops, your pants are beautiful (in both textile structure and shape, both very flattering and classy).
Will not shut off my computer until having seen your LT post :-). Anna
