2008年四川大地震からの復興を願い、ロベール・ダレの『四川省』が2010年にリプリントされた。西南シルクロードの起点として知られた四川省は、中国西南部に位置し、豊かな自然が今なお息づく中国屈指の野生動物の宝庫。とりわけ、愛嬌のある風貌と仕草で一躍世界の人気モノとなった希少動物パンダの生息地として有名だ。
深い森の中に広がる渓谷。谷間をぬうように清流が流れ、険しい岸壁がそびえ立つ。遠景には雪山が連なり、空気は深として、動物たちのざわめきがこだまする。ロベールが再現するのは、そんな地上の楽園だ。
En commémorant le séisme dévastateur du Sichuan en 2008, Hermès a réimprimé en 2010 le carré de Robert Dallet, littéralement intitulé « Sichuan ». L'ancien point de départ pour la Route de la Soie du sud, cette province se trouve au sud-ouest de la Chine et abrite une faune et flore d'une richesse exceptionnelle. Elle est également connue comme berceau du panda géant, animal charmant et espèce rare, dont la popularité est aujourd’hui mondiale.
Avec son carré dédié à cette région merveilleuse, Robert nous emmène à découvrir l'un des derniers paradis terrestres : une vallée vierge au fond de forêts épaisses, traversée par de nombreux cours d'eau et entourée d’énormes rochers. De hautes montagnes enneigées s’élèvent à l’arrière plan, alors que le premier plan est peuplé de plein d'animaux sauvages dont les cris résonnent en échos dans toute la vallée.
To commemorate the devastating Sichuan earthquake in 2008, Hermes reprinted in 2010 Robert Dallet’s carré, literally entitled "Sichuan". Located in southwest of China, this province was a starting point of the ancient South Silk Road. Today, the region is known by its exceptional richness of flora and fauna and reputed as the cradle of the giant panda, charming and rare animal, which popularity is now worldwide.
By dedicating his square to this wonderful region, Robert let us discover one of the last natural paradises of the planet : a pristine valley in thick forests crossed by many rivers and surrounded by huge rocks. High snowy mountains are rising in the background while the foreground is filled with plenty of wild animals whose cries reverberate throughout the valley.

ジャイアントパンダの生息数は約1800頭とされ、四川省南西部の山脈地域にのみ生息する。本来は肉食動物であったが、環境の変化から竹を主食とするようになる。エネルギー効率が非常に悪く、一日の大半14時間を食事に費やす。興味深いのは、竹を掴むために、「第六の指」と呼ばれる親指のように機能する突起を発達させていること。
À ce jour, il ne reste plus qu'environ 1800 pandas géants, la plupart d'entre eux vivent dans des régions montagneuses du sud-ouest du Sichuan. Bien que carnivore, ils mangent presque exclusivement des bambous en s’adaptant sans doute au changement environnemental. Puisque cette plante est peu énergétique, le panda consacre une grande partie de sa journée, soit quatorze heures, à se nourrir. Une autre spécificité intéressante est son "sixième doigt" aux pattes avant, qui lui permet de saisir les tiges à pleine main.
Today, there are only about 1,800 giant pandas, most of them live in mountainous regions of southwestern Sichuan. Although carnivorous, they eat almost exclusively bamboo probably adapting to environmental change. Since this plant is low energy, the panda spends much of his day, fourteen hours to feed. Another interesting specificity is their "sixth finger" on the front legs, which allows them to grasp the stems.
この「第六の指」は、同じく竹を主食とするレッサーパンダにも見られる。レッサーパンダは猿のように、樹上で生活する。
Comme le grand, le petit panda est aussi muni d’un "sixième doigt".Il vit et évolue dans les arbres comme le babouin.
As the giant panda, the red panda is also equipped with a "sixth finger". He lives and grows in trees like baboons.

天空には、雁の群れ。そして悠々と舞う鷹。
遠方に望まれるのは、四人姉妹がパンダを守るため虎を退治したという伝説で知られる四姑娘山か。
Un troupeau d’oies et un faucon planant haut dans le ciel. Une montagne qui culmine au loin serait le mont Siguniang. D'après la légende populaire, il est une transformation des quatre filles, qui ont sauvé les pandas des attaques d'un léopard féroce.
A flock of wild geese and a hawk fly high in the sky. A mountain which rises in the distance is Mount Siguniang. According to popular legend, it is a transformation of four girls, who saved the panda from attacks of a fierce leopard.
2006年世界自然遺産にも登録され、パンダ保護施設を有する臥竜自然保護区は、地震で甚大な被害を受けたという。一日も早い復興と、豊かな生態系が今後も保持されていくことを心から願う。
En 2006, la Réserve naturelle de Wolong a été désignée Héritage naturel mondial. Ce sanctuaire des pandas géants a été grièvement endommagé par le séisme de 2008. J’espère du fond du coeur sa restauration le plus rapidement possible et la conservation durable de ces paysages aux milles couleurs...
In 2006, the Wolong Nature Reserve was designated World Natural Heritage. This giant pandas’ sanctuary was severely damaged by the 2008 earthquake. I truly hope, from the bottom of my heart, its restoration as rapidly as possible and the sustainable conservation of its so beautiful landscapes...
